Mermaid Inn, Upper West

Yesterday was a very exciting day, one of my good friends was asked to be on the 5:00 news to talk about some of the big current health/medical issues. She will forever be known as the TV Doc.  Lucky for me, we already had dinner plans on the books, so I got to celebrate her big TV debut.  We went to Mermaid Inn Upper West. I’ve been to the original and the Oyster Bar many times, but this was my first trip to the uptown outpost.  I have to say this isn’t the type of place you’ll find the likes of Kim Kardashian, but that exactly why I like it. It’s comfy, it’s casual and has no pretense.

We started off with the seared calamari

And the shrimp special, battered and fried deliciousness

This guy was too cute to eat
Here's lookin' at You Kid
One of the best lobster rolls in the city…I much prefer the Mermaid lobster sandwich over the Pearl Oyster Bar. I think it’s the round brioche roll that does it for me. I also have a penchant for Old Bay fries

And a side of lobster, truffle mac & cheese

You also get a fortune telling fish with your bill

I’m either passionate or in love…I think both.

  1. I agree 100% about their lobster roll! Although the fact that it had a ton of juicy tender tasty lobster between the golden goodness of the bun didn't hurt either
